Companionship is Critical to Quality of Life of Seniors

Elder Care New JerseyIn today’s society, everyone is busy running to and fro. With both the husband and wife working and the endless activities the kids are involved in, it hardly leaves any extra time for anything. One thing we should be making time for is to visit mom and dad. Remember, these are the people that raised us, and we need to make time for them, especially in their sunset years. It’s best to create some kind of regular weekly schedule, so you have a regular time each week to provide companionship to your parents.
Still, even if you visit regularly for a handful of hours a week, it leaves a lot of lonely hours and days that your parents don’t have anyone to spend time with. This can have an adverse affect on their health-and their quality of life. If they start to feel like no one cares about them anymore, this could lead to depression and feelings of abandonment.
In home senior care can help alleviate some of this burden. That is one of the benefits of an assisted living elder care program. Not only do they send qualified registered nurses directly to their home to care for their physical needs, these same nurses provide much needed friendship and companionship.
They can come over a few times a week (or however often you specify), look after your parents, and become their friends. They will often spend many hours at a time with the seniors they care for. This kind of personal attention cannot be had from a nursing home or large hospital.
With in home senior care, you can rest easy knowing that your parents are in capable hands and at the same time getting companionship. This can be a big help to their quality of life and make them much healthier and happier when you come over to visit.
